Bangladesh is a reverine country. Every year flood becomes a reality for the poor reverine people. This yearly-flood comes from the northern side of the country specially flooding the river Jamuna and its surrounding districts like Kurigram, Gaibandha, Jamalpur etc. This year 2008, the flood alarming bell has already been rung. Friendship’s field staff informed that some of its working areas have flooded which are Mollar char, Baze Chituliya, Saper Char, Sedai, Batikamari, Kapashia of Gaibandha upazilla, Gaibandha; Fozlupur and Arendibari of Fulchori upazilla, Gaibandha and Holdia of Saghata upazilla, Gaibandha. Diarrhea, dysentery, skin diseases, lack of drinking water have been found in some char areas where Friendship Satellite Clinics are regularly conducting to provide medical support to the flood victims.
