Seminar on Water, Sanitation and Irrigation organized by Friendship Regional Office in Haluaghat, Mymensingh

On 29 June2010, Friendship’s regional office in Haluaghat, Mymensingh is organizing a day-long seminar on its Water, Sanitation and Irrigation project, with an aim to share the results and achievements of Friendship’s activities in Haluaghat.  The seminar, to be held in the Upazilla Parishad Auditorium in Haluaghat, will be an opportunity for Friendship to share its work in Haluaghat with local government officials, NGO officials, members of the Press Club and also our beneficiaries so they have a full picture of the overall project activities.  It will give Friendship’s beneficiaries a unique opportunity to express themselves the improvements that has occurred in their communities due to the collaboration between them and Friendship.

As part of this project, a total of 53 bio-fertilizer latrines, 21 normal latrines, and 2 bio-gas latrines were provided. 36 tubewells and one deep tubewell was installed to ensure access to safe drinking water in the area. Four training sessions on WatSan issues was facilitated by Friendship office which was received by 120 households of the beneficiary community members on the importance and proper use of water and sanitation facilities.
