Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction
The chars and associated riverbank areas are highly prone to natural disasters such as floods. Every year the area goes under flood water. Crops, houses, livestock and any other assets of the char dwellers get devastated and washed away by floods. The char population, which is one of the most vulnerable and poorest in the country, finds it extremely difficult to survive and sustain without external relief and rehabilitation support. Therefore, from time to time Friendship initiates emergency relief programmes to provide support to the flood affected people. Friendship has the expertise of innovative relief distribution in emergency situations based on its experiences of relief and rehabilitation programmes. The organization emphasizes on sustainable rehabilitation of the flood affected people in the post-flood period so that the affected people can improve their condition.
